The idea behind Linz’s urban strategy is to identify goals and methods as well as what is necessary and possible for holistic urban development. Five ‘challenges’ are defined by the strategy, which are intended to identify and bundle as comprehensively as possible all the essential issues of Linz’s urban development. From urban economy to urban growth, urban life, urban network and urban future, a broad arc is thus spanned between important, urban future topics.

We designed the process and invited 5 different teams to take a position on one challenge each and to argue it out publicly. We then summarized the results and, in close consultation with the City of Linz, developed the Linz City Strategy 2022.
